aboutsisson is the combined work of New Zealand photographers Todd and Sarah Sisson.We started shooting the great outdoors together in 1994 while living out of a clapped-out Volvo in the Canadian Rockies while on our big OE. Back then we were blowing every penny we could scrape together on rolls of Kodachrome (as recommended by our cheesy 1970's photo guide) and the results sucked. Seeking some clarity, Sarah booked us in to a group workshop with the legendary Art Wolfe, a true artist and master of his medium. That weekend utterly altered the way in which we saw the world as well as introducing us to the marvel that was (and still is) Fuji Velvia - mmmmm colour saturation..... From this foundation two very different photographers emerged. Sarah's style is restrained, sensitive and deeply rooted in her artistic influences. My style is more abrupt, direct and always seeking dynamism. Very much a reflection of our respective personalities some would say! Over the years our styles have evolved in response to each other's best work - I have attempted to get in touch with my sensitive side and Sarah has attempted to engage her inner dynamo! We think it's a good mix and, between the two of us, we tend to come away with 'the shot' in any given situation. Boss was an unpleasant individual - tossed out the suit in 2001. ex-boss fired the next year :) Started commercial photography studio and video production company in Dunedin with Sarah. Still not a full time landscape photographer. Attempts at starting family not working. Todd & Sarah decide to pursue dream of full time travel and landscape photography. Wind up studio operation. Sarah gets pregnant 20 minutes later. Travel plans on hold. Decide to push on with New Zealand landscape and nature photography plans. sisson - fresh new zealand images was born. Started commercial photography studio and video production company in Dunedin with Todd. Still not a full time landscape photographer. Attempts at starting family not working. Todd & Sarah decide to pursue dream of full time travel and landscape photography. Wind up studio operation. Gets pregnant 20 minutes later. Travel plans on hold.
