Meet The Sissons

We started photographing the great outdoors in  1997, when we both purchased our first Nikon SLRs while living and travelling in Canada.  Our transition to full time professional photographers came about in 2001 when we opened our commercial photography and video studio, Lighthaus, in Dunedin.

During our commercial career we photographed fashion, product, advertising and photo journalism and much, much more - some of which we never want to repeat (anyone up for some abatoir photos?).  Many of our images from this period have been published locally and internationally in magazines, websites, TV commercials, and used extensively in advertising campaigns.

In 2007 we decided to focus our energies upon our first photographic love - landscape and nature photography and consequently, sisson, fresh New Zealand imagery was born. Initially, the focus of the sisson range was to share our work via tourism and gift focussed products and, to date, our images have been purchased on over 700,000 postcards, bookmarks and greeting cards.

This popularity resulted in a significant demand for reproductions of our images as premium fine art and canvas prints and we launched the webstore in 2009.  In 2013 we completed a total rebuild of the site with a massively expanded range of images and print options and hopefully a much snazzier and simpler visitor experience.  We hope you like what we have done, as it has been a somewhat gruelling experience….

On the personal front, we live in the small village of Alexandra, Central Otago, with our two nutty kids (Jack & India).  We do most things together including skiing, camping, cycling, growing stuff and attempting to laugh as much as is possible in any given day.

Of course, we also love to photograph the wondrous and interesting things that present themselves before us as we wander through our very short and precious lives.

Be good to one another!

Cheers - Todd & Sarah
